This is a research tool that creates space for experiencing emotional complexity. One die is full of feelings that arise when our needs are met, the other feelings when our needs are not met. The instructions are to roll both dice and remember the last time you felt both feelings at the same time.
This piece was inspired by Sigmund Freud’s definition of ambivalence—the ability to feel both love and hate at the same time.
